Hunt Refining Company owns and operates a refinery in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and its subsidiary, Hunt Southland Refining Company, LLC, owns and operates a refinery in Sandersville, Mississippi. Hunt Refining and Hunt Southland Refining Company, LLC, also operate transportation, terminal and storage facilities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee that allow products to reach several major markets in the southeastern United States.

Tuscaloosa Refinery

Hunt Refining Company owns and operates a complex, full- conversion petroleum and asphalt refinery in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

In 2010, Hunt Refining Company completed a three-year expansion project of its Tuscaloosa refinery that took its capacity from 52,000 barrels per day to 72,000 barrels per day. As a result of the expansion, the refinery doubled the amount of gasoline and distillates that it produces and improved its flexibility in running various crude streams.

The major units of the refinery include:

Crude Unit
Hunt Refining Company's Crude Unit processes up to 40,000 barrels per day. This unit separates crude oil into many different components including motor gasoline, kerosene, jet, diesel and asphalt. These streams then pass to other units for further processing before sales.

Delayed Coker
The delayed Coker was started up in 1984 and has nearly doubled in size from its initial capacity to 32,000 barrels per day currently. The Coker, together with a front-end crude oil heater, not only expands the crude oil processing capacity of the Tuscaloosa refinery but, more importantly, also provides flexibility in coking asphalt produced by the refinery to produce clean transportation fuels.

Hydrocracker
The hydrocracker is a high-pressure, high-temperature fixed-bed upgrader that processes gas oil produced at the refinery into naphtha and distillates, which are then further refined into finished gasoline, jet and diesel fuel. The capacity of the hydrocracker is 15,000 barrels per day.

Continuous Catalytic Reformer
The continuous catalytic reformer processes naphtha constitutes and reforms the molecules to produce high octane motor gasoline blend components through improved technology. It meets new low benzene regulations in gasoline and has a capacity of 16,000 barrels per day.

Sandersville Refinery

Hunt Southland Refining Company, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hunt Refining Company, operates an asphalt refinery in Sandersville, Mississippi.

The Sandersville, Mississippi refinery is located on 85 acres and processes crude oil from both local Mississippi oil fields as well as a variety of international crudes. The refinery has the capacity to process 10,000 barrels per day. The refinery consists of a simple distillation process with vacuum distillation for graded asphalt products.

Products from the Sandersville refinery are finished roofing grade asphalt, paving grade asphalt, heavy gas oil, distillate feedstock and heavy and light straight run naphtha. Synthetic polymer compounds can also be blended with the asphalt to produce a variety of performance grade for state and federal highway projects. Products from Sandersville are shipped by truck and rail car.
